Cottage in the courtyard

The current occupants began converting this former carriage drivers’ workshop and residence into a home about 30 years ago, according to their own design and with loving attention to detail. A long building, located in the second rear courtyard of the complex, it now contains a studio and apartment for a family of three. The courtyard has become a cozy outdoor area, from which half-overgrown steps lead into a vaulted cellar, which has been repurposed as a workshop. All in all a world unto itself – in the middle of a city.

OHW - Experience

You pass through two passageways and cross a courtyard. It is not until the second courtyard that you finally reach the building, with its yellow facade and green doors that are wide open whenever the weather is nice. Nikola Winkler and Theresia Frass-Knierzinger from the Raumschule offer kids’ tours; their 11-year-old son will also be around to explain what it is about living here that he likes so much. Visitors can look forward to a relaxing trip.
